My midwife, Jen, was absolutely amazing and made sure that everything went as smoothly as possible by calling ahead to make sure that there was room for me, sending over all my paperwork so they would be prepared, and coming with us to the hospital and making sure we were settled in and the epidural had hit before she left. After the birth, the hospital staff were all very understanding, and in some cases supportive, of our choice to use the Birthing Center for our post-partum care and made sure to send all records and important information. The hospital pediatrician had concerns about my baby's Bilirubin levels but was flexible enough to send the results from the next day's blood test to Jen so she could keep an eye on the situation during our post-partum journey. Your first appointment will take about an hour, so be sure to allow plenty of time. Prior to the appointment, you’ll receive forms that you will need to fill out via our secure client portal. Complete the forms before you arrive so you can spend maximum time engaging with your midwife. You’ll also receive a link to AdvancedMD, your secure online medical chart. Take the time to set up your personal account and complete your medical history before your appointment. When you arrive, you’ll meet one of our midwives. Together, you’ll review your current health status and medical history from AdvancedMD. The midwife will also guide you through the lab procedures and discuss the best nutrition choices for pregnancy. Your midwife will assess your health status and perform a complete physical exam. If you’re far enough along, you may even get to hear your baby’s heartbeat! Required fees that are not paid for by insurance, Tricare, or Medicaid plans include: A nonrefundable fee of $300 is due at the first appointment for the concierge care we provide. Payment for your Natural Childbirth Prep Course of $175 is due at the first class in the series. It doesn’t always start out easy. Knowledge and support are the keys to meeting your breastfeeding goals. We offer prenatal breastfeeding education in prenatal visits and through in-person classes. All of our clients have access to lactation support. Each of our midwives is trained in lactation and there is an IBCLC available for more challenging situations.
